The Civic Center was ranked 14th out of 100 theaters in 2007* ahead of other midwest theaters such as the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis (#16), and the Fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis (#25) and the Fox Theatre in Detroit (#37).
Jeff Chelesvig, Civic Center president and CEO, said, "It's interesting to note that while Des Moines is a comparatively smaller metropolitan area than its peers, the Civic Center consistently yields a much higher percentage of ticket buyers." The 208,250 tickets sold at the Civic Center in 2007 equates to nearly 39% of the Des Moines metropolitan area's population of 534,000.
